Following a shortage of wing backed arm chairs to up-cycle we are now delighted to be well stocked – thank you everyone who donated their old one to our workshop. In addition thank you Kamil (our master upholstery trainer) for the very generous donation of leather hides (an entire car load) last month, already being put to good use. Unbelievably we received some more stunning leather hides from two more supporters in the last few days. The first from Susan who visited us at Alexandra Palace on Sunday. She had several leather hides that had been in her loft since 1970 that were acquired in Chicago for a project that never went ahead. Secondly a lady visited on Monday whose father used to work at Connolly and had acquired some of the most amazing leather, popped in with a donation including a whole hide of ‘Graffiti Leather’.
↑ Chris has earmarked the Connolly ‘Graffiti’ hide for his wing baked arm chair, this could be the most ‘urban’ bit of up-cycling to date.
↑ Poppy’s Two seater ‘Love Settee’ nearing completion
↑ Alison’s 1950’s Parker Knoll will be covered in an array of Sanderson and other high end designer fabrics with a vibrant palate
↑ Julie is working on a very trendy retro 1960’s easy chair with winged back
↑ Marisa’s first upholstery project is this rocking chair – beautiful fabric selection to be revealed soon…
Along with these chair projects there is an abundance of other furniture being creatively up-cycled and we always enjoy welcoming visitors to take a look around.
For those who are unable to pop in during our regular Mon-Fri opening times, we also open on the First Sunday of every month – that’s this weekend Sunday 4th December.
