Thrilling changes

on 30 March 2016

The 1st of April 2016 is more than just a new chapter, it's a whole new book for RECOVER. It signifies the start of our first year as 'The Recover Team Limited'. We are now a company limited by guarantee with an application currently being processed by The Charity Commission for our own new charity registration number.  This morning we enjoyed a break from setting up the showroom area with a brand new look ready for this Sunday (the first Sunday of every month half price open day event). We happily accepted an invitation from Pear Tree Primary School to…

Things You May Not Know About RECOVER

on 21 November 2015

RECOVER was founded in 2013 through funding from Herts County Council & Management Support from CRI (A National Charity).  Here's a recent quote that we believe is very apt... "Recover and its sister social enterprises are important not just to Hertfordshire but to the whole recovery 'enterprise' nationally. Hertfordshire commissioners have been courageous enough to back something truly different and CRI have been privileged to be trusted with delivering that something. Recover has proven that by equipping, training and above all trusting people in recovery to develop and run their own business, a thriving enterprise can emerge. On one level…

John Lewis WGC supporting RECOVER

on 07 November 2015

Thank you Val - The Community Liaison Coordinator & The Home Furnishings Department, along with everyone else at John Lewis who are supporting our Team. We have received multiple donations of quality fabrics, sometimes end of lines or discontinued fabric sample books, which we put to good use. Here is an example of what we do with these donations.... Sorting & separating the fabrics in the sample books    Selecting suitable furniture to enhance with the fabrics   In this instance we have selected a pair of Parker Knoll Easy Chairs still with original labels intact - including date of…

Coffee Bean Sacks – Why We Luv Em!

on 16 September 2015

From Scepticism To Connoisseur     When we first set up RECOVER I met with Kamil the professional upholsterer who provides us with tuition. When he first suggested using old coffee bean sacks to make cushions & bags from I was quietly sceptical – rough & itchy came to mind.         Now 2 ½ years on and over 1000 products with coffee bean sack content sold, to both private customers & commercial projects myself & the Team are ‘coffee bean sack connoisseurs’!          Along with the monetary benefits these products have had for RECOVER we also…
