Offering vulnerable adults new fulfilment and purpose, RECOVER is run by Ian Block & Holly Brunsden. Ian & Holly have a passion for furniture with an eye for creativity and high quality workmanship.
In the RECOVER workshop our volunteers up-cycle furniture right from design; researching current trends and techniques, planning how they can make a saleable piece whilst still putting their personal stamp on it. Then working on their chosen piece of furniture; repairing, sanding, painting and varnishing before finally learning about pricing and marketing. The upholstery side of the business is equally inspiring producing outstanding and original items; volunteers receive professional training and support in re-using fabrics and materials. They are involved with planning & design, measuring, cutting, sewing, fire retardant rules and regulations, current trends, pricing and marketing.
Some of our volunteers may have been affected by substance abuse, a criminal record, homelessness or missed education. RECOVER offers people life-changing experience, apprenticeships and professional qualifications in furniture up-cycling. Along the way they also gain our love of furniture and design and a belief in supporting the local community, environment and economy.
RECOVER is committed to offering the highest quality of products and services.
